Outreach Activities

The sky's the limit for outreach opportunities at MSU CVM!

There are numerous ways you can get involved and help promote the field of veterinary medicine, support the adoption of unhomed animals, connect with fellow animal lovers, and otherwise make a difference in your life, the lives of others, and the lives of animals!

The following programs, events, and activities are a few of them:

  • Homeward Bound: This student-run program provides medical care, fostering, and transfer of pets in danger of euthanasia due to shelter over-crowding to loving homes in other areas of the country.
  • Safe Haven for Pets: Victims of domestic violence often have no where for their pets to go when fleeing an abusive situation. This program provides medical care and fostering for these animals until they are able to be reunited with their owners.
  • VetAspire: High school and undergraduate students interested in veterinary-related careers spend a day at our college engaging with students and faculty and experiencing hands-on learning activities through this program.
  • ‍‍Vet Camp: Each summer we offer a series of fun, educational camps for students ages 10-17 with dreams of one day working with animals, allowing them to explore veterinary medicine through experiential labs and activities led by veterinary students and faculty.
  • Annual Open House:  This two-day event coordinated by the second-year class is open to area schools one day and the general public the next and offers a variety of fun, interactive exhibits related to animals and veterinary medicine for all ages.
  • K-9 Handler Training: K9 officers/handlers and their dogs are often in harm's way, and through this program, we offer the training and supplies needed for these heroes to be able to provide life-saving care to their beloved dogs in the field.
